We are happy to announce the release of the latest Ubuntu Extended Support release: “Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (Focal Fossa)”. From now on, all our customers can deploy their Cloud with this version of the GNU / Linux distribution, Ubuntu.
It is the last stable version of extended support of the Ubuntu distribution and it succeeds the stable version “Ubuntu 19.10”. Thanks to the availability of Ubuntu 20.04 in all Cloud instances, now, you can work with more updated repositories and, therefore, with more recent versions of your favorite software, libraries and applications or that you require for your project.
Ubuntu publishes a new version of the operating system twice a year: XX.04, in April and XX.10, in October. The version corresponds to the year number and month of its publication: 19.04 (April 2019), 19.10 (October 2019), 20.04 (April 2020)… Sometimes they have been delayed, but they have kept the nomenclature «.04» and «.10».
In addition, every two years (even-numbered years), Ubuntu publishes its LTS version, which stands for «Long Term Support». The suffix «LTS» indicates or limits the number of months Ubuntu will maintain and release security updates for that version.
