What is a VPS?
A VPS is a virtual server that is obtained from 1 single physical server, which shares its hardware resources.

What is a Cloud?
A Cloud is a virtual server that is obtained from a "pool" or group of servers, storage cabins and network electronics, which allows you to distribute the resources among different physical equipment. In this way, you can guarantee no dependency on hardware for the Clouds to work.

What are the differences between a Cloud and a VPS?
Although both are systems based on resource virtualization, there is a big difference in the physical platform of each.
- A VPS is a virtual server that is made from 1 single physical server, which shares its hardware resources.
- A Cloud is a virtual server that is made from a "pool" or group of servers, storage cabins and network electronics, which allows you to distribute the resources between different physical equipment. In this way, ensure non-dependence on hardware for Clouds to function.
That main difference, makes the
scalability, redundancy, availability and capacity of growth of a Cloud
much higher than that of a VPS.

What advantages does a Cloud offer me?
A Cloud server can offer the same features as a physical server, but with the great advantage of flexibility and scalability.
In a Cloud server you can expand or reduce the resources whenever you want and depending on the specific needs you have at any given time.
Unlike a physical server or a dedicated server, in which expanding or reducing resources is a problem and involves physical interventions and stops in the services.
In addition, the other great advantage is that you will only pay for the resources that you have allocated at any given moment, and it will not be necessary to oversize your server "just in case".

Can I expand or reduce my Cloud whenever I want?
Yes! Using the SWPanel you will have total control of your Cloud and you will be able to make any customizations or adjustments you want whenever you want.
Just keep in mind that most Operating Systems do not allow you to shrink disks due to partitioning and data writing problems, and, to avoid problems, the disk size can only be enlarged, never reduced.

And can I plan my resource expansions/reductions?
Of course you can! Through SWPanel you will be able to create and plan with time (up to 2 years of margin) the extensions and variations of your Cloud resources.
This SWPanel utility is very useful for you to plan your campaigns. For example, if you have an eCommerce you can pre-allocate the resources you may need for the Christmas campaign or for Black Friday.

What does pay-per-use mean?
The great flexibility and scheduling possibilities of a Cloud server have also required changing the concept of fixed billing of a service and designing a real payment system for the use that is being made of that Cloud.
Pay-per-use, means that every month an invoice will be issued for all resources used by your Cloud, calculating the maximum usage of every hour. In a month of 30 days 720 readings of usage are taken to apply the hourly cost of each resource.

What does hourly billing mean?
Hourly billing means that every hour we keep a snapshot of the maximum resources that that Cloud has used in that hour and multiply it by the number of hours of the billing period (720 hours in the 30 days months), and that is the amount of the Cloud.
For example, a vCore has an hourly cost of 0,00174EUR, if your Cloud has 2vCores assigned during the whole month, the calculation will be as follows (2vCores x 720Hours x 0,00174EUR/hour) that gives a result of 2,50EUR/month.
So, for each of your Cloud resources, vCores, GB of RAM, GB of Disk.

So I never know how much I will pay for my Cloud?
No, you will always know what you are going to pay, you are informed up to the minute, even if you make upgrades and downgrades, you will always have the price of your Cloud calculated.
All the resources of your Cloud have an hourly cost, and in your SWPanel, in real time the accumulated cost of this service is being calculated.
In addition, all the rates that we publish on our website are the maximum monthly costs that you will pay for this Cloud with the resources indicated in a month of 30 days.

Will the price of my Cloud be different depending on the number of days in a month?
The price of your Cloud is measured by hours, and is a fixed price for each hour of use.
Since a Cloud is billed once a month, the sum of hours will be different depending on the days of the month. The monthly cost of the Cloud will vary according to the days of the month, but the Cloud price is a fixed price/hour, that does not change.

How is my Cloud billed?
Your Cloud is billed once a month, and for monthly periods.

Are there fixed monthly costs instead of hourly costs in my Cloud?
You can activate some services that are not billed on an hourly basis, which have a fixed monthly cost.
Whenever you activate these types of services/upgrades of your Cloud, which are billed on a monthly basis, it will be indicated to you so that you are aware of it.
In case you activate elements of this type, these will be billedin advance, i.e. at the beginning of the period of use.

If I don't use my Cloud, do I have to pay?
Each month you must pay for the resources assigned to your Cloud whether you use them or not, since they are resources reserved only for you.
.
But, there is an option that will allow you to park your Cloud if you don't use it. This way you will not pay for unused resources.

If I stop a Cloud, do I have to pay?
Each month you must pay for the resources assigned to your Cloud whether it is on and in use or not, since these resources are reserved only for you.
But, there is an option that will allow you to parking your Cloud if you don't use it. This way you will not pay for unused resources.

What does it mean to park my Cloud?
Park my Cloud means stop it and free the resources that you do not use, using only 2, the GB of Disk and the IPs. The rest of the resources such as GB of RAM or vCores are released and are no longer allocated.
When you park a Cloud you reduce the cost of billing of resources, since you will not be billed for the resources you have freed.
When you park a Cloud from SWPanel you will be shown what the monthly cost of the Cloud will be while it is parked.

Can I have more than one Cloud server?
Of course! You can have as many Clouds servers as you need.

How far can I extend my Cloud?
All Clouds have a maximum resource allocation limit that may vary depending on the type of Cloud or the upgrades you assign to it.
Whenever you customize or manage the upgrades of your Cloud from SWPanel you will see the maximum and minimum limit of the resource you want to manage.
At information level, for example, a Cloud can have up to a maximum of 24vCores, 64GB of RAM or 2TB of disk space.

Is a Cloud a private server just for me?
Exactly! A Cloud is a private server that only you use, which will be assigned the resources that you indicate and that will be only for you, you will not share any of these resources with anyone else.

Are Cloud resources guaranteed?
Yes! All the resources of your Cloud are guaranteed.
If we tell you that your Cloud has 2vCores, 2GB of RAM and 40GB of Disk, is that it has them, they are guaranteed and they are only for you. You can use them 24x7 at 100%.

Does each Cloud server have a fixed IP?
Exactly! SW Hosting delivers each Cloud server with a fixed public IP dedicated to it and not shared with any other customer.
