What is DKIM? DKIM, or DomainKeys Identified Mail, is an email authentication standard that helps verify the authenticity of the sender and the integrity of the message. In essence, DKIM provides a way to digitally sign emails, allowing recipients to confirm that an email actually comes from the entity it claims to be from and that its contents have not been altered in transit.

How does DKIM work? The DKIM process begins when an email leaves for its destination. The sender digitally signs the message using a private key associated with its domain. This signature includes a series of cryptographic data based on the content of the message. When the mail arrives at the destination server, it looks up the DKIM public key in the DNS records of the sender's domain. Using this public key, the destination server verifies the DKIM signature of the message. If the signature is valid and matches the content of the message, it is considered authentic and has not been modified in transit.

Why is DKIM important?
