In a file system, are assigned permissions to files and directories in order to delimit who can read (Read) their content, write (Write) in them, and execute it (eXecution).
SW Panel allows you to easily modify the permission settings of your web space. Normally it is usually necessary to modify it for the normal functioning of some content managers (CMS). For example, Wordpress requires write permission to host the new content that is generated.
Also, for security reasons it is important to maintain a correct configuration of permissions in order to prevent a third party with malicious intentions from being able to make changes or access unwanted information.
In SW Panel, access the Dashboard of the service for which you need to modify the permissions and select Permission Management (left menu):
💡 Use the search engine at the top to quickly locate your service.
💡 You have at your disposal a button that allows you to restore the permissions to the original values.
The icon for each directory indicates the current permission settings:
Read Only: Acceso de solo lectura. Read Write: Acceso de lectura y escritura.
By clicking on the directory icon, the permissions are modified recursively. In other words, the permissions of all the contents of the directory will be modified, including subdirectories:
Each time you click on the directory, its permission settings will alternate between RO (Read only) and RW (Read and write).
The changes will take effect immediately.
The permission modifications will be applied to the files that currently exist. This does not imply that it will be applied to the files that are subsequently created.
